What are you to do
when the sun isn't the sun anymore?
When it's just an eye
looking down on you
with the same near-tragic disappointment
so clearly visible in the faces
of everyone else around you.
What are you to do
when the wind isn't the wind anymore?
When it's just another voice
telling you how worthless you are;
how much of a failure you are;
and how you will never amount to anything.
What are you to do
when the rain isn't the rain anymore?
When it's just more tears.
More tears to compliment
the hundreds that you've already shed;
each more pointless than the last;
none of them helping in the slightest.
You live on.
You live on, knowing that for every condemning look,
there is a praising look.
That you just haven't noticed them,
because you thought the others were right-
but they're wrong.
You live on, knowing that just because the angry voices are the loudest;
it doesn't mean that the joyous ones don't exist.
Knowing that truth doesn't come from hatred;
it comes from love.
You live on, knowing that tears don't have to be sad-
that tears can help you feel alive,
with a fierce and unrelenting joy.
And that for every tear shed in woe,
two will be shed in exultation.
So live on, my friend.
Live on, and see the sun as a beacon of hope.
Live on, and hear the wind as a harbinger of change.
Live on, and feel the rain wash away the past.
Live on.

Numbers
Two for the hearts which fell in love
Seventy-seven for 'the crime' we are
Ten for places I can marry you
Seven for the land, where they kill us too
Infinite for these fearful nights
Zero for my hopeful sights
One for the second you close your eyes
Endless for our sad good-byes

A call to arms
What do we fear?
Why do we hide?
Is it the pain?
Emotional, physical,
Is that it?
What of the Blacks, who were beaten, lynched, set upon?
What of the women who were always 'inferior'?
What of the common Patriot when Britain ran America?
What of our ancestors?
They fought, bled, and died for the right to be free
To be recognized as men
To be recognized as equals
To be FREE
So I ask
Why are we silent?
Are we American, or are we LGBT?
Can we be both?
Yes.
We ARE both, and no one can take that from us.
Every suicide, every hate murder, every law passed,
Every silence, every person afraid to come out,
They tell our story, wri
Literature
I Love You
There are three simple words
That have the power to leave me
Shaking.
Those words can produce beauty,
Deception, war, or more.
They can overturn cars
Slice open wrists
Saw through secrets.
The can shatter hearts, like
Crystal vases thrown against walls.
And yet,
They lead you to dream of a smiling future
Rich with technicolor.
They tear off clothes and explore
Every curve
Every inch of skin
